In Motherlode, Lisa Belkin tackles it all — homework, friends, sex, baby sitters, eating habits, work-family balance and so much more — subjects culled from the news, from her experience as a parent, from the latest books and studies and from reader input. So take a look at what Lisa has to say, and join the discussion about the way we raise our kids now.

In Antisocial Networking?, The New York Times examines whether technology may be changing the very nature of kids’ friendships.

In "Young Learners Need Librarians, Not Just Google," author Mark Moran states, "Students do not know how to find or evaluate the information they need on the Internet." He discusses the essential role of school librarians in guiding students through information on the web. Check out the author's website at www.dulcineamedia.com.

Parent's Note

Welcome to the Lakewood Public Library’s Parent Pages! My colleague Kris Williams and I have been working hard these past few months uncovering the best that Lakewood and surrounding communities have to offer for family fun and education. Some of it will be familiar to you, but we believe we’ve uncovered some gems that are less well-known. Whether you’re a native of Lakewood or new to the area, you’ll find this compendium of information and resources a useful guide along the parental path. So take a look, and don’t make this your last visit here. We plan to update and add on a regular basis so that we remain fresh and relevant. Comments and suggestions are always welcome; simply click the link below and send me a message.
