TECHNOLOGY CENTER_________________________________________________________________________________
The Technology Center houses the Learning Lab which has IBM computers providing internet access, Microsoft Office, Paint Shop Pro and Show What You Know proficiency software. Teachers are invited to use the Learning Lab to conduct classes involving the internet. Call the Technology Center at (216) 226-8275, ext. 127, to schedule times for your classes.
- Homework Connections
This is a time for students to use computers for research and word processing. To reserve your hour, please stop in or call the Main Library at (216) 226-8275 ext. 127, or the Madison Branch Dennis G. Fedor Computer Center at(216) 228-7428. Monday - Thursday 3 - 7 p.m. and Sunday 1 - 5 p.m.- Internet Access
In addition to Learning Lab Computers, the internet is also available on 36 public access stations. Reservations are made in 30- minute segments for a total of one hour each day. Four additional Internet Express stations are available for fifteen minutes of use.- Virtual Library Services
Use your library card to access databases on the Web, 24 hours a day. Begin at the library’s homepage (www.lakewoodpubliclibrary.com/virtual/), choose the link to the Ohio Public Library Information Network (OPLIN). Select Lakewood as your home library and enter your Lakewood Public Library barcode number.OPLIN databases include:
- Encyclopedia Britannica Online
- eLibrary: newspaper and magazine articles, TV and radio transcripts, reference works
- EBSCO MasterFILE Premier: full-text articles from over 1.950 current magazines
- SIRS Researcher: issues-related articles, great for school reports
- SIRS Discoverer: full-text articles for the youngest researcher (K-8 reading level
- Novelist: subject and genre guide to reading material for adults and young people.

The library’s website includes informational pages for Lakewood City Schools, proficiency tests, PTAs, student guides, and subject pathfinders to help in research projects. The Technology Center staff continually works with educators gathering print and electronic resources to construct and maintain these pages. Local teachers are invited to participate in this initiative to bring students together with quality information. Pathfinder request forms are available on our Lakewood City Schools page.

A wealth of knowledge will be at your students’ fingertips when they visit the library. Our Children’s & Youth Services staff will provide a tour, story time or help with your research project. Teachers may have classroom materials delivered to their Lakewood school or Lakewood home. Teacher loan cards are available at the Main Library or Madison Branch circulation desks. To request a Monday or Thursday afternoon delivery or pick-up, call (216) 226-8275, ext. 140, for pre-K through eighth grade teachers, or ext. 130 for high school teachers.- Homework ER at the Library
K - 8th Grade
During the School YearDo you have students who need a little extra help with their homework or just want a cool place to work? We transform part of the library into the Homework ER with helpers and a cartful of resources. Homework ER is closed on school holidays and vacations. No need to register. Monday - Thursday, 3– 5 p.m. at the Main Library and Madison Branch.

During the summer, your students can continue to enjoy the excitement of books by joining our fun and motivational summer reading club. Members are asked to read a pre-determined number of books or hours. Participants earn stickers,
certificates, entries in prize drawings, and much more.- Story Time To Go
Our staff is available to bring storytime to your childcare center or classroom. We select the themes and age-appropriate books, songs and movements to share with the children.
