Children in the 2/3 Discovery Class at Grant Elementary are participating in a yearlong, in-depth study of Native American cultures. The program interweaves the study of Native Americans into the fabric of the social studies, science, technology, and language arts curriculum.

One of the goals of the unit is to help the children realize that there are many different and unique Native American peoples and that the stereotypical Hollywood or cartoon image of an Indian is a generalization which presents a one dimensional view of a richly varied group of people.
