Students have completed the TerraNova achievement tests and the InView ability test. During the weeks of April 21–May 2, third, fourth, and fifth graders will take the Ohio Achievement Tests (OATs). The schedule is as follows:

The OATs assess the grade level standards taught at each grade level. Children are expected to read and write in every subject. They answer multiple choice questions and provide short answers and longer, extended responses in every subject. Students work with these standards daily and many students are attending our After-School Achievement Lab for additional practice.

The booklet you received at your conference in November, A Standards Guide for Families, highlights some of the skills that your child should know and be able to do at his/her grade level. A complete set of the grade level Academic Content Standards was given at Curriculum Night in the fall and is also available at www.ode.state.oh.us. This web site also provides more information about the Achievement Tests, including Practice Tests.

Please do not schedule appointments for students in grades 3-5 during these weeks.
