Purpose

In 1962 the Junior Women's Club of Lakewood was formed by a group of young women interested in "serving their community and stimulating their minds while enjoying a program geared toward fun and friendship." The purpose of the club has not changed. It is a philanthropic organization that sponsors one major fundraiser a year with proceeds going to predetermined organizations in Lakewood.

Meetings

The Junior Women's Club of Lakewood meets the second Thursday of each month, September through May, in the Women's Pavilion in Lakewood Park at Belle and Lake Avenues at 7:30 p.m. Each meeting consists of discussion of business and a speaker of varied interest.

 

Membership Requirements

• Any woman, resident of Lakewood or surrounding communities at the time of application, who is interested in the purpose of the club shall be eligible for membership.
• She must be able to fulfill the following responsibilities:
  1. Serve on a committee for the social service project (fundraiser).
  2. Financially and/or actively support the Ways and Means Project.
  3. Serve on the Ways and Means or Social Committee.
  4. Serve as hostess for one of the monthly meetings.
