What is the largest size deck I can build &
are there any restrictions? |
1. Maximum size is 300 Square Feet
( 10 x 30 ) or see below.
- Must have at least 30 feet from the back of the deck to the rear
property line.
- The deck will not have a roof.
- The height of the deck shall not exceed the height of the 1st
interior house floor.
- The deck shall be constructed in the rear yard and not extend past
the existing house foundation wall into the side yard.
- Any deviation from the above may require a zoning variance

how do I know if I will need to seek a variance? |
Supply a plot plan showing:
- Show the length and width of your property. (The length of your property
is from the rear yard property line to the inside edge of the public
sidewalk)
- Details / size of house showing the size of any porches/protrusions
- Show where the deck will be placed and the size / square footage
of the deck

is 36 inches deep)

- Railings for deck & steps (if over 24 inches high)
- Spindles for railings (maximum spindle spacing is 5 inches on center
- Lattice
- Stairs showing riser & tread dimensions
