Judaism

Judaism is the oldest monotheistic religion in the world, the root from which the branches of Christianity and Islam sprang forth. While the principles of Judaism remain unchanged, the Judaism of today is vastly different from that of two thousand years ago. Constantly growing and adapting to new environs and ages, Judaism is both the most ancient and most modern of religions. In the last 200 years, Judaism has adapted itself to western philosophical thinking, American lifestyles and -- most wonderfully -- the rebirth of Israel, the Jewish national homeland. In Cleveland, over 60,000 Jews cover the religious spectrum of traditionalism from Orthodox to Reform. While most Jews live on the east side, there has been a continuous Jewish presence on Cleveland's westside since the first Jewish settlers arrived here in 1848.
