ROCKPORT’S INTERURBAN RAILWAYS: 1893-1938 Thursday, February 11 |
|
A century ago, Lake Shore Electric Railway Company and Cleveland, Southwestern & Columbus Railway were
the two electric interurban lines serving Rockport Township. Transporting passengers and freight at high speed to
such far-away places as Ashtabula, Lorain, Oberlin, Columbus, Sandusky and Toledo, they also built special lines
to “trolley parks” such as Puritas Springs, Chippewa Lake and Cedar Point. This program is co-sponsored by the

VINTAGE BASE BALL Sunday, July 11 |
Don’t miss the Western Reserve Challenge—a vintage base ball double-header featuring the Akron Black Stockings and the Forest City Ball Club. Vintage Base Ball (yes, it was two words originally) is played by the rules and customs of an earlier period. Ballists don period uniforms and recreate the game “as it was meant to be played.” It’s a great afternoon of learning, popcorn and fun! |
