Summer/Fall 2008

The summer is drawing to a close and all of the teachers and staff here at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School are looking forward to the beginning of the 2008 - 2009 school year with our focus on the excellence of academic achievement and Catholic identity.

Our latest test results indicate that, except for a testing aberration in one class, all of our students have made significant progress over last year.  All nine of our grades indicate that our classes are currently at a status of at least 1.5 grade levels above the norm. Those are very fine results.  That means that our average 4th grader is working at a 5th grade, 4th month level.

Further, our special academic events: Poetry Contest, Curriculum/Science Fair, Grades 6-8 foreign language classes, Chess Club, etc. - along with our Christian spirit, social justice, and fine discipline, still define who we are - a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School!

Introducing our new principal, Mr. William Bistak, who has been on the teaching staff for the past six years and has been a part of the success here at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic School.  Mr. Bistak has 19 years in teaching and 20 plus years in business thus preparing him for the new challenges to grow our school, continue the efforts to uphold traditions, and to address the issues of the stakeholders of this parish school.

We invite you to watch this site for special notes about coming events and dates.  All of you who are already registered will be sent an informative letter in July.  For those of you who are contemplating a move to our school, you may call anytime during the summer, leave a message, and it will be returned promptly.

In the meantime, following are the important dates for the near future:

Mid-July Back-to-School Letter sent to families
August 27 Opening day of school
September 3 Mandatory Parent Meeting

- Best Wishes for a Safe and Happy Summer! -
