Dear Horace Mann Parents,

Welcome to a very exciting school year at Horace Mann Elementary! Welcome to our returning families and our new families for the 2009-2010 school year.

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Alison Yonkers. This is my first year as Horace Mann PTA President. I have two children, Sarah who just began 3rd grade and Emma who is entering 5th grade this year. I am also a morning preschool teacher’s assistant here in our building. My husband, Pete, and I have lived in Lakewood for nine years and love this community, the people who live here and all that Lakewood has to offer. We are so proud that our children have been able taken full advantage of the wonderful school system that we are a part of.

I encourage you to join the PTA at Horace Mann. It offers excellent opportunities for you to become more involved in your child’s education. Kids notice parent involvement. A parent’s participation models for the children that school is important.

As president of the PTA I am charged with opening and directing the lines of communication between the school and our families. Please call on me with any questions or concerns. You may call the school office and leave me a message or write a note and send it with your child.
