The JACL:

• encourages young people to strive for higher education and provides thousands of dollars in scholarship every year
• promotes Japanese and Japanese American culture and arts for all to see, enjoy and appreciate.
• helps protect Americans from all types of discrimination and hate crimes
• demands accountability from public figures who make racial comments
• helps protect all of us by acting as a watchdog over government activities
• makes sure that history is not forgotten by preserving Japantown, WWII internment camps and assembly centers
• gives young people the opportunities for leadership training with national leaders in Washington, D.C.
• continues to highlight the painful lessons of the past and highlights the wonderful contributions made by Asian Americans by providing educational materials for teachers
