In 1911, the Lakewood community purchased the Tegardine House at the corner of Detroit and Warren for a City Hall. In 1920, it moved to the Robert R. Rhodes home in the newly acquired Lakewood Park. In 1959, the city replaced its aging city hall in Lakewood Park with a new municipal building at Detroit and Alameda.

Operates the Oldest Stone House. Its hours are 2-5 p.m. on Sunday and 1-4 p.m. on Wednesday (closed December and January ). There is no admission fee and special tours are arranged on request. 

The Historical Society has slides of most of Lakewood Public Library's photographs and some early maps. Slides are not lent, but the society will arrange for their duplication for a fee. There is a library also.
